A person who seeks to ensure legal residence of a foreign citizen in Poland should have a valid travel document and health insurance. On top of this, the recognition of the permit can be verified on the basis of the visa (if a visa is required). The purpose of the stay must also be specified.
An application for a residence permit may be submitted at any time, at the latest on the last day of legal residence in Poland.
The resident card is a document which confirms the identity of a foreign citizen during his/her stay in the territory of the Republic of Poland and entitles him/her to cross the border. It is issued by the provincial office.
A foreigner applying for a temporary residence permit should receive a decision within 60 days from the date of submitting the application. As for a work permit, it is generally granted within one month, though it does happen that the process can be prolonged.
Ukrainian citizens are not obliged to submit any residence permit applications to government offices. It is also not mandatory for them to obtain refugee status. The stay of Ukrainian citizens is considered legal on the basis of temporary protection if they arrived in Poland after February 24, 2022.
A Long-Term EU Resident Permit is an authorization that entitles a foreigner to reside in the territory of Poland. It is granted for an indefinite period to third-country nationals.
