What are the requirements for legal residence in Poland? When can I apply?
A person who seeks to ensure legal residence of a foreign citizen in Poland should have a valid travel document and health insurance. On top of this, the recognition of the permit can be verified on the basis of the visa (if a visa is required). The purpose of the stay must also be specified.
An application for a residence permit may be submitted at any time, at the latest on the last day of legal residence in Poland.
What is a resident card and what does the duration of residence depend on?
The resident card is a document which confirms the identity of a foreign citizen during his/her stay in the territory of the Republic of Poland and entitles him/her to cross the border. It is issued by the provincial office.
How long does it take to obtain a temporary residence and permit for work in Poland?
A foreign citizen applying for a temporary residence permit should receive a decision within 60 days of application submission. In terms of residence for work purposes, the permit is granted within one month, but sometimes the process can take longer.
How is the process of residence legalisation carried out for Ukrainian citizens?
Ukrainian citizens are not obliged to submit any application for a residence permit to the authorities. They are also not covered by the obligation to apply for a refugee status. The stay of Ukrainian citizens is considered legal on the basis of temporary protection if they have arrived in Poland after 24 February 2022.
